Caracol Maya Temple

Tucked away in the secluded Chiquibul Forest Reserve, Caracol Maya Temple Tour offers an adventure you will not soon forget!

CARACOL (Full day tour) – Spanish for snail, was one of the most important regional political centers of the Maya Lowlands during the Classic Period. Once covering an area of 200sq kilometers and having a population of an estimated 180,000 Caracol was by far one of the greatest Maya Empires. Caracol is recognized for defeating the formidable city of Tikal in AD 562. Cana, Maya for “Sky Place” is the largest structure at Caracol and also the largest single structure in all of Belize. Hiking around this ancient site you will be captivated by its majestic pyramids and rich history. Throughout the site you are bound to come across exotic wildlife. In addition, after an adventurous tour of this magnificent site we will make a stop at the Rio Frio Cave, and the Rio On Pools for an optional swim in natural cascading swimming pools. This combo makes for one of my personal favorites of all adventures in western Belize!
