Mayan Culture Tour

Special Tour

Discover the Legacy of the Maya

The Maya civilization, renowned for its deep spirituality and connection to nature, revered gods of the sun, moon, rain, and corn. Though the once-powerful empire has faded into history, the Maya people and their rich cultural heritage endure. Today, thousands across Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize continue to speak one of the many Mayan languages and proudly preserve the traditions of their ancestors.

In Belize, you’ll encounter three distinct Maya cultures: the Ketchi, Mopan, and Yucatec Maya. On this immersive tour, delve into their vibrant customs, religious beliefs, traditional foods, and clothing.

Our journey begins at the renowned Maya Temple of Xunantunich, where you’ll marvel at the architectural ingenuity and historical significance of this ancient site. Next, we’ll visit AJAW Chocolate, where you’ll participate in crafting chocolate from scratch using traditional techniques. After a delicious lunch break, we’ll wrap up the day with a visit to the bustling San Ignacio Market, a hub of local culture and commerce.

Note: In the event of flooding, Cahal Pech Maya Temple will replace Xunantunich as the primary archaeological site for this tour.
